How the calculator works

It takes your factory price in USD and converts it to KSh at a realistic forwarder rate, then layers on freight (per CBM for sea, per kg for air), the China-to-forwarder leg, local transport, branded packaging and a small damage buffer. The result is your true cost per unit — and, at your target margin, a clean selling price rounded to the nearest KSh 50.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate import cost from China to Kenya?

Add your factory unit price, the quantity, and either the package weight (air) or dimensions (sea). The calculator converts USD to KSh, adds groupage freight, local transport, packaging and a damage buffer, and shows your true landed cost per unit plus a suggested selling price at your target margin.

Does this include shipping and clearing?

Yes — it uses all-inclusive groupage forwarder rates (the way most small Kenyan importers ship via consolidators), which bundle freight and clearing into a per-CBM (sea) or per-kg (air) rate. You can edit those rates under ‘advanced’.

Is it free?

Completely free, no sign-up. It runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere.
